Port Blair, July 23: A delegation of Island Development Organization, A & N Islands, comprising Mr Selvam, General Secretary, and Mr. Arockia Raj, Treasurer met the Chief Secretary on Saturday. They requested the Chief Secretary to issue necessary instructions to the Secretary, Education for review of the new contract agreement for engagement of teachers under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme.
They Island Development Organization team also requested the Chief Secretary to direct the Transport Department to ensure plying of plying passenger buses as the approved permit and route map and to take necessary steps for timely disbursal of Old Age Pension, Widow Pension, Handicapped pension.
The Chief Secretary is stated to have assured the delegation to look into the issues on priority.
