Port Blair, July 23: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association has expressed serious concern over the discontentment prevailing among teachers after the issue of Annual General Transfer orders for the year 2017 by the Education Department on 16th June, 2017.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary-cum-Director of Education, the copy of which was also sent to the Lt. Governor, the Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary(Education), the General Secretary pointed out that there are several shortcomings and infirmities in the orders which has led to such discontentments among the teachers.
The Association has received several representations from affected teachers which reveals the injustice meted out to them by these orders which are not only against the provisions of Transfer Guidelines but also against natural justice.
Meanwhile, the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch of this Association in its Executive Body Meeting held recently has resolved to organize protest programmes against the indifferent attitude of the Education Department towards settlement of the issues concerned to teachers which are being inordinately delayed for the reasons best known to the concerned authorities.
The meeting therefore decided to hold a Protest Demonstration as a part of first phase of the agitational programme on 10th August, 2017 in front of the Directorate of Education.
