Port Blair, Jul 19: An awareness programme on Goods and Services Tax (GST) was conducted in the Conference hall of Port Blair Municipal Council on 19th July 2017 at 10.30 a.m. Port Blair, Jul 19: An awareness programme on Goods and Services Tax (GST) was conducted in the Conference hall of Port Blair Municipal Council on 19th July 2017 at 10.30 a.m. The programme was organized to impart awareness and familiarise the new law of tax to the employees of Port Blair Municipal Council after the enactment of GST Act, 2017. Shri B. Eswar Rao, Chairperson, PBMC, Shri Yashpal Garg, Secretary, PBMC, Ward councilor, Nominated councilor and employees of PBMC were present in the awareness programme.
Shri. Kalyan Ghosh, Joint Commissioner, GST and Assistant commissioner of GST, attended the programme as resource expert. They highlighted the GST law, shortcomings of old tax structure, benefits of GST, how to register in GSTN and filing the monthly returns etc. During question and answer session, the councilors and officers of PBMC raised many questions accordingly Joint commissioner cleared the doubts on GST.
