Port Blair, May 28: The Chatham Police Unit has seized nearly 5 kg of Banned Tobacco Products this morning from a passenger of Vessel MV Swarajdweep which arrived here from Kolkata.
On a tip off the SHO Chatham Police Unit, Inspector Abdul Rehman and his team under the overall supervision of DySP South Andaman reached the Haddo Jetty and on search of a person namely M Majumdar, 55 years a resident of RK Pur, Little Andaman, the team seized around 5 kg of Zarda.
The Seized Zarda was later handed over to the Food Safety Officer of the region and appropriate action was initiated against the accused.
