Call Traffic Police Unit if Auto Rickshaw Drivers refuse to use fare-meter: Dy. SP Traffic

Port Blair, May 28: A good news for thousands of people as recently the State Transport Authority has made the use of fare meters compulsory for Auto Rickshaw and Taxi drivers after the STA received several complaints from the General Public.
The another good news is that now the traffic police has also come to the rescue of public and said that if in case any Auto Rickshaw or Taxi Driver refuses to use the fare meter the Customer can call and register a complain to the Traffic Police at 03192-234472, 100 and can also register the complaint in the police Whatsapp number, 9434289970.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mohammed Umar assured that immediate action will be taken against the Auto Driver by Traffic Police Unit if they receive any complaint about refusal of using fare meter by the Auto Rickshaw or Taxi Drivers.
Not only Traffic Police Unit but public can also register a complaint to the Legal Metrology Section of Civil Supplies Department at their toll free number 18003453197 or can also address a complaint letter to the Legal Metrology Department.
Further talking to Andaman Sheekha over phone, the Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology, Mr Rajesh Kumar also assured that immediate action will be taken against the Auto Rickshaw as well as Taxi Driver on refusal of using fare meter.
The Legal Metrology looks after each and every complaint that is being registered in their toll free number. “In case toll free number cannot be approachable one can also address a complaint letter to us,” said Mr Rajesh Kumar.
It is for the information of General Public that an Auto Rickshaw Driver or Taxi Driver, being in service sector and as per MV Act Rule, can never refuse to pick a passenger as per his mood.
