Port Blair, March 31: The resident of entire Port Blair city are raising questions against the Port Blair Municipal Council for late garbage collection and dumping, which is creating numerous problems for the city residents.
According to the residents of the city, while travelling at morning hours every day on the way to drop children to schools or office one can see dozens of garbage dumping trucks plying all over the city with loads of garbage. This not only creates traffic congestions but also ruins the goodness of a fresh morning.
“The nosebusting smell of the Garbage dumping Vehicle makes our whole day worst, the PBMC must complete the cleaning work every day before 07:00 am,” Mr Dharmalingam, a resident of the city said.
The residents of the city now demand the PBMC to complete the entire garbage cleaning work between 04:00 am to 07:00 am.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Senior Vice Chairperson, Mr Uday Kumar said that the process of cleaning the city starts early morning before 06:00 am but because the cleaning is continuously carried out till 02:00pm the garbage dumping vehicles are seen on road.
He said that outsourcing of vehicles is not an issue and they preferred because that is costing us less.
