Port Blair, Mar 31: Believe it or not but social media is buzzing with the news that a private startup company from Bangalore is all set to launch Sea Cable Car between Mount Harriet and Ross Island. Mount Harriet is the highest peak in Andaman region with an eagle’s eye spectacular view covering Ross Island, Port Blair region.
The Mt. Koyob in Mt Harriet which is 459 meter above the sea level has been identified as the perfect place for the cable car station. This Sea Cable Car would be world’s first of its kind by making its landing on the Sea towards Ross Island. This would set a new record for its new innovation of “Sea Cable Car” first time in the world. A special designed car with proper buoyancy would be deployed under each car so that in case of emergency it can float on the sea and can be rescued with minimal damage.
According to PlanMyTour, a travel technology startup from Bangalore, this is planned to be unidirectional sea cable car for tourist from Mt Harriet to Ross Island and return of cable car would be empty using the energy of onwards cars. This unit would be completely operated on solar energy using the technology called ‘reverse gravity’ so as to use the minimal power consumption.
Sunil Gupta, Founder and CEO of PlanMyTour plans not only this but to use the power of cable car to run wind turbines to generate electricity for the Islanders.
“The history of cable car is from back to 1826 and Singapore Cable Car started in 1974 on the main island of Singapore to the resort island of Sentosa across the Keppel Harbour. Its time for our Islands to look beyond the nature and beauty for growth of tourism but keeping them unspoiled. Andaman Islands have plenty of opportunity and enthusiasm for growth, creating employment especially in tourism. PlanMyTour has vision to empower the travel agents across the world to create a better tourism environment,” said the entrepreneur from our Islands.
He further states that this would be a great boost for Andaman Island tourism especially for tour operators/agents as the 12 Kilometer ride to Mount Harriet from Port Blair would be an additional and must see from all tourists. More tourists would be interested in this tour as this would be a feather added to 3 islands or 2 islands tours have a unidirectional circle saving plenty of time for tourist. This tour stating from Port Blair, Chatham, Bamboo Flat, Mount Harriet, Ross Island, North Bay Island, Viper Island would be a complete tour for tourist covering Monuments, Cellular Jail, Chatham Saw Mill, Experience of Ferry, Mountain, National Park, Sea Cable Car, Ross Island, underwater experience in North Bay, Harbor cruise to viper island.
A day before 1st April 2017, when asked how he got this idea, Mr. Sunil Gupta told the Editor of Andaman Sheekha “I am an entrepreneur in Bangalore. I am from the Islands. So I am well aware of the problem as well as potential of the Islands and I am dreaming high as an entrepreneur. My job is to visualize the thing or to create a vision and I have my team to turn my dream into reality. So when Andaman Sheekha came with the idea to create prank news on “April Fool Day” on Andaman Islands, as it is done in all over world, I took this as an opportunity to visualize a better Island from tourism perspective, for the benefits of travel agents in the islands added technology as an ingredient and thought of throwing a challenge to the Administration of the Islands. ‘It’s good to be a fool until you are learning something new. Happy April Fool.”
On April 1, 2016, a Gujarati evening newspaper Akila ran a story that said that the government, on completing two years, is removing the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes from circulation in a bid to end corruption and black money hoarding. The report was published with the headline “Chalan Maathi 500-1000 ni note naabud karnwa nirya”. The story said this was a historic decision against bribe, black money, corruption, fake currency and the evil of terrorism.
The report was, in fact, meant to be an April Fool’s Day prank by the Rajkot-based paper but it actually happened in 2016 end.
Who knows Andaman Sheekha’s an April Fool’s Day prank might also become a reality in coming day. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
