Port Blair, Jan 25: As part of the ongoing “Road Safety Week “from 23rd to 29th Jan, Andaman Nicobar Traffic Police organised a “Road Safety Walk” on 25th Jan, 2017.
The Director General of Police Shri Rajesh Mallick, flagged off the walk. The walk commenced from Cellular Jail and concluded at Netaji Stadium via Clock Tower-Model School.
Around 1,000 students from various schools holding banners, placards with catchy slogans related to traffic safety rules participated. Besides school children’s, NCC Cadets, Andaman Chamber of Commerce, Bus Operators union, Auto Rickshaws Union, Tour operators union, Private Taxi Operator Union and Driving Schools expressed their concern and solidarity for Road Safety by participating in large numbers to convey the Road Safety message.
Director General of Police, A&N Islands Shri Rajesh Mallick, alongwith IGP Shri Narendra Bundela, The Superintendents of Police and others officers of A & N Police walked along with the rally covering more than 02 Kms. Police band both male and female and school band also participated with the participants.
The walk was witnessed by people from all walks of life. People woke up to the pleasant sound of drum and pipe band played by the all women band, school children and Police band of Andaman & Nicobar Police.
On this same day, Road Safety lectures were also delivered at various schools on various topics. Inspr. Arjun Prasad delivered talk at Govt. Boys. Sr. Sec. School, SI KN Mishra delivered talk at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Mohanpura and SI S. Raja Rao delivered talk at Nirmala Sr. Sec. School.
