Diglipur, Jan 17: To raise the skill level and open livelihood opportunities for students the Ministry of Textiles and office of the development corporation of handicrafts in association with Directorate of Education Andaman & Nicobar Administration a crafts awareness workshop is inaugurated today at Govt SSS Diglipur. The purpose of this workshop is to provide Basic skill training and create awareness in the school children. Training will be held for 200 students on 17th & 18th Jan. In this four crafts cane, bamboo, coconut shell and hand embroidery will be covered and the finished products will be displayed on 19th and winners will be awarded.
This is the third workshop programme in Andaman earlier two workshops held at GSSS School line and GSSS Bakultala, the fourth one will be held at Car Nicobar.
The purpose of this camp is to create awareness in the students with the basic training. The students will be provided raw material and demonstration will be held by the three local trainers Mr.Harinarayan, Mrs Nandita and Mr Nirmal sarkar.
The Chief Guest on this occasion was DEO Diglipur Shri Sashi kumar. Addressing the gathering he said that skill development training camps in rural areas is necessary besides provision for financial support to the trainees. He thanked Dept of Industries for providing such wonderful opportunity to the students by organizing this training programme. Senior Director Handicraft, Mr. Diptanshu Halder, IPO Diglipur Shri Swapan Kumar Mallick highlighted about the activities and importance of this camp on this occasion.
