Port Blair, 05:As part of the skill development initiative taken up by the Yuvasakthi, an NGO, a two month long training coir handicraft for jewellery making under the auspices of Coir Board, Ministry of MSME, Government of India was earlier commissioned on 03rd September 2016.
Aimed at empowering the women from rural and urban SHGs with life skills, this month long programme came to an end on 03rd December 2016 with 20 participants each in three separate training programmes having successfully trained.Commissioned in three places each at Calicut, Neil Island and South Point in Port Blair simultaneously, this programme witnessed the consistent participation of trainees with enthusiasm.
On the valedictory function marking the closure of the programme, Mr.DeeptansuHalder, Sr. Assistant Director, MSME, Handicraft Unit, Government of India participated and enlightened the
trainees on the importance of skill development in today’s scenario.
During the two month programme, participants of each of the three centres were educated on various nuances of coir jewellery making. A new batch of training on the same subject will be concurrently inducted at Haddo and Rangat from 15th of December 2016 which will run for a period of two months with 20 participants each.
