Port Blair, Dec.03: A training programme on computer application for the clerical staff of the Secretariat concluded at its valedictory function held in the auditorium of DBRAIT here yesterday. The Chief Secretary, Shri Anindo Majumdar, chief guest of the valedictory function distributed certificates to the participants on the occasion.
Addressing the participants, the Chief Secretary informed that training is essential for Govt. employees, as it provides opportunity for them to learn new things and exchange ideas for the better functioning of the organization. It is conducted at all level, right from higher officers to the lowest subordinate, he said. This training aimed at increasing more and more computer application knowledge as computer is must in the present era, having lot of advantages over the erstwhile manual typing, which otherwise consume lot of time for re-typing/correction etc. he said.
Stating that e-office will soon be introduced phasewise, once the connectivity is improved in the Islands, Shri Anindo Majumdar said that computer knowledge is necessary for every employee as all the office works including noting, drafting, approval etc will be done through computer only. e-office routine, he said, is not difficult than the present office routine, rather it is easy and fast. A competent Officer, even if he or she is out of station can give his/her approval for proposals, wherever he/she is camping, he said and urged the employees to speed up the office work culture without delaying file movement for faster outcome.
The Chief Secretary also appealed to the participants to abreast themselves as to how to work with regard to rules and regulations. Every employee is part of the team and must enjoy his works for what he contributes as success and failure are shared by all working in the organization, he said. He opined that participation of all in giving opinions, suggestions and ideas in decision making can take the system towards positive approach for better development.
The Chief Secretary expressed gratitude to the Special Secretary IT and his team for the successful conduct of the training programme.
The Secretary (Perl. & Edn.), Ms Tanvi Garg while speaking on the occasion informed that the objectives of the training was to improve the level of computer knowledge and office working, especially in drafting and noting. She expressed satisfaction that the training, besides improving computer application knowledge, had enhanced the level of confidence among the participants. She assured that such training will regularly be organized, which will go a long way to benefit all other employees, who are waiting for their turn, she added.
Two of the trainees, Shri P S Raja and Ms. Gayatri Saha shared their experiences during the training and said that it was very useful for them as they could enhanced their knowledge in computer application. They also suggested that such training should be organized regularly in future.
As many as 42 clerical staff of the Secretariat, including Higher Grade and Lower Grade Clerks participated in the training programme.
The valedictory function concluded with the vote of thanks, proposed by Smt. Krishna Chakraborty, Deputy Secretary (Perl.).
