Port Blair, Dec 02: After a struggle of more than a decade, a Media Room was set up by IP Division at the ground floor of IPT Building, so that media personnel can organize their internal meetings, various programmes and also file reports.
Since opening of Media Room, it was used regularly by media persons and media associations for various programmes but very recently it has been found that the room is not maintained properly by IP Division.
Nearly two months back when Small Newspaper Association members reached Media Room for a meeting they found the room has been converted into store room overnight. The room was also used for storing old bus tyres.
When last time it was checked the Computer and TV, purchased for the Media Room, was not working.
When Media persons objected the room was cleared but there was a short circuit in AC, when it was switched on.
Today again when members of Daily Newspaper Association reached the Media Room it was found that the room has again been converted into a store room and all kind of construction materials have been stored inside the room.
These incidents shows how much serious and committed the IP Division is towards local media.
