Port Blair, June 05: Andaman and Nicobar Police has once again proved its strength of mind and solved the ‘Indian Bank Burglary’ case within 24 hours and arrested the Burglar. Initially, the case appeared totally blind as the Burglar had taken all precaution to hide his face from CCTV camera, by wearing raincoat and covering his face with handkerchief but the Police Team did a wonderful job and solved the case within 24 hours.
According to report, the Manager of Indian Bank at Babu Lane informed P.S. Aberdeen on Sunday (03 June) morning that the burglar alarm of his bank went off loudly in early morning hours. When they opened the door and checked, they found that some one has removed the screws of the wooden door of the safe room and tried to open it. One CCTV camera was also damaged. However, no cash was missing. A case was registered U/s 457/380/511 IPC and investigation was launched immediately.
Under the leadership of ASP Chinmoy Biswal, the anti-burglary squad of P.S. Aberdeen comprising of SHO Stalin N.S., ASI Rasheed, PC Manpal, PC Imran, PC Rakesh and PC Ashish examined the scene of crime along with fingerprints personnel PC Sernus Bara and Saurav Shukla. Available CCTV footages were analysed for clues and several persons were questioned.
Working on a few leads, the police team rounded up a suspect Ananto Roy (22) yr., r/o Kalighat, from School Line area. During interrogation, he admitted to have burgled into the bank through the grill of a window in the late night hours and tried to open the safe room door with the help of a screw driver. But as the burglar alarm blew up, he fled.
Police have recovered three ATM cards and the screw driver from his possession. Accused Ananto Roy has been arrested and produced before the Court from where he has been sent to judicial remand for 14 days.
