
Port Blair, Nov 22: A delegation of elected members of Port Blair Municipal Council comprising the Chairperson Shri B. Eswar Rao, Jr. Vice Chairperson Shri Dharmendar Narayan Councillors viz. Shri Someshwar Rao, Smti Protima Banerjee, Smti S. Usha, Shri C.H. Babu, Shri I.P. Singh, Smti Ansuiya Devi, and Shri Azizur Rehman, General Secretary, TDP, A&N Islands visited New Delhi on 14th of this month to attend the IITF which was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of A&N Islands.
During the visit the delegation along with the State President of Bharatiya Janatha Party Shri Vishall Jolly met the Hon’ble Ministers of Road & Transport and Civil Aviation. They discussed about the construction of bridges from Middle Strait-Baratang, Gandhi Jetty- Uttara and Chatham Bambooflat. The Minister informed the delegation about the development of the project and assured that Government is taking every possible effort to proceed the construction of these bridges.
Further the delegation met the Hon’ble Civil Aviation Minister Shri Ashok Gajapathi Raju and informed that at present the airlines being operated between Port Blair Vizag sector are twice in a week which is insufficient to cope up the demand of the people of these Islands. They requested the Hon’ble Minister to enhance the schedule by thrice in a week. They further requested the Hon’ble Minister to enhance the present seats from 50 to 100 persons for these sector to ease out the tribulation being faced by the passengers for the said sector and also pleaded to reduce the rate of tickets as Andaman and Nicobar Islands is considered as the most expensive sector compare to other sectors in India.
