Port Blair, Nov 18: The State Commission, A&N Islands in coordination with the Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, A&N Administration has organized a Consumer Awareness Programme on 17th November, 2016 at 10.30 AM at Andaman Law College, Port Blair.
Speaking on the occasion the Hon’ble Justice Asim Kumar Ray, President of the State Commission, A&N Islands sensitized the students of the Law College about the various provisions of the Consumer Protection Act. He also stressed on efforts undertaken with regard to consumer Protection Awareness Movement in the country. Further, he briefed the students about the various means by which Consumers are mislead by misleading adds and referred the various land mark decisions of the Consumer Commissions of the country.
Dr. Dinesh, Member State Commission gave a presentation on consumer Protection Act 1986 and Smt. Biji Thomas, Members State Commission spoke on various aspects of Consumer related cases of food safety.
Earlier, Shri. R. N. Rath, OSD, Andaman Law College welcomed the dignitaries.
The programme was compered by Shri. Aneesh Chatterjee, Joint Registrar, State Commission and Shri M. Sanjay, Registrar, State Commission proposed vote of thanks.
