Mayabunder, Feb 02: The much awaited IOC outlet of POL at Mayabunder has been delaying inordinately for unknown reasons. Although the civil works of the infrastructures for the outlet, which was awarded to the EE, NACD has been completed long back but the NACD authorities are seem to be forgotten the remaining works of electrification.
The works of electrification, which should go ahead along with the completion of the civil works have come to a stand still for a considerably long time now.
The local POL consumers have been cherishing the dream of buying fuel at IOC rates for quite some time now, have lost their hopes and are suspecting the private POL dealers’ lobby in the delay of opening of this outlet.
Mayabunder, being the headquarter of North & Middle Andaman District, ought to have an IOC outlet long time back. It is a well known fact that the petrol and diesel is sold here through private licenced outlets/dealers at an exorbitant price and also allegedly adultrated one!!!
It is a bad luck of Mayabunder residents that they have not yet enjoyed the IOC or ANIDCO petrol bunk in spite of road connectivity from Port Blair to Mayabunder whereas in Little Andaman,the ANIDCO has opened it in 1997. I dont know why this problem has come to the minds of the higher authorities so lately.
