Port Blair, Jan 21: As part of patriotic week celebration, the Andaman and Nicobar Police organized a debate competition on the topic “Whether spirit of patriotism exists in today’s scenario” at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School here on Thursday. The competition was conducted under the supervision of Smt Geeta Rani Verma, Principal, Police Training School. Altogether, 24 students from various schools participated in the competition and debated over the patriotism prevalent in the society and inflicting over the younger generation.
The jury consisting of Mr R.K. Pandey, Superintendent of Police, Dr. K.V.R. Murthy, Associate Professor (Commerce), JNRM and Smt S Raji, Lecturer, DBRAIT after carefully analyzing the presentation and contents declared
Ms Aiswarya SR of Kendriya Vidyalaya-1, Ms Ashmitha Garami of Model School and Ms Liza Ghosh of Kendriya Vidyalaya-2 as winners of the first three prizes. The first, second and third position winners were awarded cash prize of Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 respectively. Ms Priyanci Adhikari of Naval Children School and Ms Neeta Lakra of Girls School secured consolation prize of Rs 500 each.
The DIGP, Mr N. S. Bundela gave away the prizes along with certificates to the winners. He appreciated the students for their overwhelming response for the contest and for impressively debating on the different aspect of patriotism and its existence in today’s scenario.
