Port Blair, Nov 6: The Chairperson, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, Smt Minoti Biswas the villages under Ferrargunj, Kanyapuram and Wimberlygunj Gram Panchayats on Thursday. Mr. Abdul Bashir, ZP Member, Brindaban, Smt Bageshwari, ZP Member, Ferrargunj, Mr. Tej Bahadur, Superintending Engineer, and other Engineering staff accompanied the Adhyaksha. During her visit, the repair of the road to Hazari Bagh village and the repair of the Community Hall at Ferrargunj were raised and Smt Biswas assured the villagers that the works would be taken up on priority.
Later, Smt Biswas met Mr. Nazir Mohammed (72 years) at his residence at Old Kadakachang in the presence of a large gathering of villagers. He handed over a representation addressed to the Lt. Governor signed by 35 residents of Old Kadakachang village requesting to provide the minimum basic requirements like drinking water and street lights and repairing /maintaining the road constructed in 2002. Mr. Mohammed also narrated the transportation problems faced by the villagers. The Adhyaksha assured to do the needful.
On her visit to Bambooflat, the Adhyaksha interacted with the agitators demanding posting of doctor at PHC Wimberlygunj. She contacted the Director of Health Services over phone and in response the DHS reached the spot and assured the people that a doctor and other staff members would be posted at the Health Centre after which the agitation was called off.
