Port Blair, Nov 6: The District Level Task Force Committee (DLTFC) on Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), pertaining to District Industries Centre, Department of Industries, will be held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman in the conference hall of District Office at 3.30 pm on Nov 12, 2015.
The scheme is aimed at generating employment opportunities in rural as well as urban areas of the Islands in particular and country in general through setting up of new self-employment ventures/projects/micro enterprises. Besides, the objective is also to bring together widely dispersed traditional artisans/rural and urban unemployed youth and give them self-employment opportunities to the extent possible, at their place. The purpose of the scheme is for setting up of eligible viable activities under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) scheme. The Nature of credit facility of the scheme is Term Loan & Cash Credit facility.
Any individual, above 18 years of age are eligible under the scheme. There will be no income ceiling for assistance for setting up projects under PMEGP. For setting up of project costing above Rs.10 lakh in the manufacturing sector and above Rs. 5 lakh in the business / service sector, the beneficiaries should posses at least VIII standard pass educational qualifications. The financial assistance is available only for new projects under the scheme.
The beneficiaries’ contribution in the project cost are 10 % for the General category and 5 % for the special category including ST, OBC, Women, Ex-servicemen, Physically handicapped etc. The rates of subsidy of the project cost are 15 % for the general category and 25 % for the special category in Urban area. Whereas, 25% for the general category and 35% for the special category in Rural area.
The maximum cost of the project/unit admissible under manufacturing sectors is Rs.25lakh, Service sector is Rs.10lakh and under business sector is 2lakhs. Implementing Branches of all Projects are all the Nationalized banks & ANSCB of the UT.
All applicants of urban area of entire Municipality and in rural areas of Neil Islandwho have submitted their loan applications to the District industries Centre, Udyog Parisar, Middle Point, Port Blair, South Andaman have been requested to attend the DLTFC meeting on the specified date and time along with Local certificate, Ration Card, Educational Qualification Certificate and other essential documents.
Prospective entrepreneurs, who intend to set up self employment ventures under manufacturing, Service & Business sector duly availing finance under the PMEGP scheme, may also contact District Industries Centre, udyog Parisar, Middle Point, Port Blair, South Andaman and submit their loan applications along with relevant documents as stated above for placing before the DLTFC. The selected applications will be forwarded to the concerned Banks for financial assistance under the scheme.
