Port Blair, Oct 14: The Police held a meeting with private boat operators in the conference hall of office of Superintendent of Police, South Andaman under the chairmanship of the District Superintendent of Police, Mr Atul Kumar Thakur on Tuesday. About 13 boat operators from Port Blair and Wandoor area attended the meeting during which area SDPOs and SHOs were also present. The SP directed the boat operators to take various precautions and safety measures to strictly enforce safety of tourists. Tourist boat operators also raised certain issues. Issues like strict compliance of safety measures such as compulsory wearing of life jackets, provision of fire fighting equipments and precautions to be taken during embarkation/disembarkation were stressed upon during the meeting.
