Port Blair, Sept 03: Shri Rajesh Malik IPS, Director General of Police interacted with the members of the A & N Islands Boat Association and boat owners at Police Headquarters, Atlanta Point, Port Blair on 03/09/15.
A meeting was held with the representatives of Boat Association Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Assistant Director, Information Publicity and Tourism under the chairmanship of the Director General of Police, Andaman and Nicobar Islands to discuss about various issues of Boat Operators with regard to tourist safety. During the discussion, various issues like operation of water sports activities like Jet Ski ride at North Bay, opening of Water sports activity at Water Sports Complex on Wednesday and various other aspects related with Tourist safety were discussed.
The boat owners also enumerated the measures taken by them to ensure safety of tourists. DGP, A&N Islands stressed on zero tolerance on safety, overloading and overcharging.
During the meeting, the Director General of Police, A & N Islands stated that safety of tourists is of utmost importance since a large number of tourists visit these Islands. Further the DGP assured of all possible assistance to the boat operators for creating a safe environment for the tourists visiting these Islands and in support of the endeavors of the boat operators in promotion of tourism in these Islands.
