Port Blair, Aug 07: In a shocking development, reports are pouring in from two different educational institutes about seizure of liquor from campus.
The first case has been reported from one of the oldest Schools of Port Blair in which six boys were found to be consuming liquor inside school campus. After this incident all six students have been placed under suspension for fifteen days.
In another incident six bottles of Vodka have been recovered from a Girls’ Hostel of a college. Although insiders told Andaman Sheekha that a few girls were suspended after this incident but when the Principal of the College was contacted the Principal refuted such report and also maintained that no one was suspended in any such cases.
Earlier Andaman Sheekha had reported how Ganja was found in one of the prominent private English Medium School. The report was initially refuted but later even the CID department found the report as true.
Sadly in the case action was taken against the child instead of giving him proper counseling. Only for this reason in this case Andaman Sheekha is not mentioning the names of the school and college in this report.
This is not a case of failure of education system but a matter of misguided students, who have fallen in the trap of the Bar Culture of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Any kind of inquiry in these cases should not end in termination of students but in giving them proper counseling and showing them the right path.
What an irony! The Govt bans and prohibits so many acts and commodities considered evil, but promotes the mother of all evils – Liquor.
