Diglipur, Mar 10: In a shocking incident a salt water crocodile today jumped into a fishing dinghy and grabbed oarsman’s right hand. According to reports three residents of Diglipur, who are private workers had gone for fishing near Shantipur Village of Diglipur.
At around 5.45 pm suddenly a crocodile jumped and grabbed the hand of an oarsman and in struggle to pull him down the crocodile came inside the dinghy completely. Soon the dinghy lost balance and overturned but thankfully the dinghy was at knee deep water.
After falling into water when all three men made noise together and crocodile went away, leaving one of them, Suresh Mandal, 49 years, badly injured. The injured person was brought to CHC Diglipur, where he is under treatment it is learnt.
Last month a 12 year old girl of Radhanagar, Diglipur was killed by a crocodile when she was getting inside a dinghy to reach school. According to reports, when the girl tried to get into the Dinghy, a crocodile, which is about 5-6 mtrs long hit the girl with tail. When the girl fell into water the crocodile caught the girl from her waist and vanished into water.
Spate of of attacks by crocs in the recent past and specifically the present instance indeed indicate Crocs of the area are turning into man-eaters. We need to be extremely cautious, because situation is going to become worse from here.
