Port Blair, Mar 10: The Department of Homescience, JNRM, has organised a Seminar on the “Role of Food Corporation of India in attaining Food Security” under the Eminent Speaker Series programme on 10th March 2015 in Seminar Room. Shri.Durga Prasad, AG-III, Technical Officer and Shri M.P.Ch.Kaleswara Rao , AG-III, Technical Officer of FCI, Port Blair handled class on the Procurement, process, movement & transportation, protection and storage of food grains, assessing the quality of food grains and preventing spoilage. Further explained the role of FCI in Food Security through various Government Flagship Programmes and schemes such as Mid Day Meal, Antyodaya Anna Yojana, SABLA for adolescent girls, Food Security Act etc. This seminar was arranged and coordinated by Shri.K.Venkatesan, Assistant Professor & HOD, Department of Homescience.
