Port Blair, Mar 10: International Women’s Day was celebrated at ICAR-CIARI on 09.03.2015 which was attended by all the staff of CIARI. The programme started with the lighting of lamp followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. K. Abirami, Chairperson, Women Cell. On this occasion competitions related to women empowerment were held and prizes were distributed. The chief guest of the event was Smti Ranjita Dam Roy, Chairperson, CIARI Ladies Club and the function was presided by Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CIARI. A guest lecture was arranged during the event which was delivered by Dr. Manju Nair, Associate Professor, JNRM, Port Blair on the Topic “Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity”. The whole programme was coordinated by Mrs Sulochana, Member Secretary Women Cell. The programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr T. Sujatha, member, women cell.
