Port Blair, Mar 09: Mrs. Karuna Roy, 35, resident of Vishnupur, Sabari Panchayat, Rangat has returned home after undergoing a successful Mitral Valve replacement surgery. The open heart surgery was done on 17 Feb 2015 by Dr.Nachiyappan Rtd Cardiothoracic Surgeon of JIPMER and Dr. Elangovan Cardiologist of AB Padmavathis Hospital, Pondicherry. Andaman Sai Seva Samiti had taken the lead for collection of money needed for the treatment of the poor woman. She got Rs.1 lakh sanctioned from LG relief fund, another one lakh rupees was donated by Mr. Rakesh Juneja Chairman of Sai Sumiran Trust and remaining one lakh was collected from public and members of Sai Seva Samiti. The Lions club Rangat also donated Rs.10 thousand.
