Port Blair, Feb 25: On 02.01.2010, HC/1069 U.K. Pandey alongwith PC/192 N.K. Mondal, HG/720 Sunil Kerketta were performing duty at Nimbudera Market and about 1950 hours on getting information regarding unusual behavior by the accuse Prabhakar Bagchi in market area who was in drunken condition creating nuisance and when they tried to apprehend him, the accused ran away and fell down on a culvert and when he was caught by the police, the accused assaulted the said HC/1069 U.K. Pandey with fists and blows and used filthy languages and threatened. As a result of such assault, the uniform of police personnel got torn. On the basis of the complaint of HC/1069 U.K. Pandey, an FIR vide No. 93/10 dated 02/01/2010 U/s 332/353/504/186/427 IPC was registered at PS Billiground and the chargesheet was submitted under the same sections. Prosecution altogether examined 09 Prosecution Witnesses and exhibited some document and the torn uniform to prove the charges. After conclusion of trial and upon hearing of argument, the Ld. CJM, Mayabunder Shri. Ayan Kumar Banerjee convicted the accused Prabhkar Bagchi and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment of one year U/s 332 IPC, 06 months U/s 353 IPC, 03 months U/s 427 IPC and a fine of Rs. 300/- U/s 186 IPC in default SI for 15 days. All the sentences shall run concurrently. The state prosecution of the case was conducted by Shri. Mrinal Das, Assistant Public Prosecutor-cum-Govt. Pleader, N&M Andaman, Mayabunder.
