Port Blair, Feb 12: The Sanitation Wing of PBMC organized “Swatch Bharat Abhiyan” awareness Programme on dt: 11.02.2015 in ward no. -15 at Sr. Sec. School, Ravindra Bangla Vidhyalya Port Blair. Over 150 student along with the Principal and teachers participated in the awareness program which aimed at educating them about the importance of solid waste management system at source level for successful and innovative management of solid waste, essential for bringing out significant improvement in the health and sanitary condition, aesthetics of the city and overall improvement in the life citizens.
Smti. Sheela Singh councilor W.No. 15, Shri. Vijay Parsad Tiwari Sanitary Office, Shri. Deepak Behari Chakraborthy, Nodal office Swatch Bharat Abhiyan PBMC and all Sr. Sanitary Inspector & Sanitary Inspector were present during the programme.
Shri. Vijay Kumar Sr. Sanitary Inspector, Nodal Office (SWM) gave a demonstration on identification and the segregation of waste at source level. He also briefed about the different categories of waste and its importance as resource in source segregation and also stressed on the management of waste at the school and house hold level. The public Health awareness group of PBMC sang song on “Swatch Bharat Abhiyan” to motivate the students.
