Port Blair, Feb 04: A delegation of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association today met the Seventh Central Pay Commission headed by its Chairman, Justice A.K.Mathur at the Conference Hall of Hotel Megapode, Port Blair. Shri D.Ayyappan, General Secretary of the Association through a PowerPoint presentation explained in detail various Andaman-specific general issues & demands concerning various categories of employees working in the Andaman & Nicobar Administration.
The Association submitted before the 7th CPC that the Andaman Special Allowance and Compensatory Allowance which were given to the govt. employees till 1986 should be restored. The Association has further demanded that House Rent Allowance at the rate prevailing at Port Blair should be granted to the govt. employees working all over the islands considering the exorbitant house rent being charged by private house owners at outstations. The Association has demanded that the pay of Lower Grade Clerks & Higher Grade Clerks working under the A & N Administration should be enhanced. The Association demanded parity in the pay scales of other clerical cadre staff with those in the Central Secretariat Cadre. The Association further submitted before the 7th CPC that a number of categories of teachers and miscellaneous teachers have been denied of the Part-B upgraded pay while implementing the 6th CPC recommendations and requested the Commission to rectify the mistake by making specific recommendations. The Association has also demanded restoration of Earned leave and Teaching Allowance to the teachers and also increase in the Medical Allowance.
The Association further submitted that due to the non-revision of Overtime Allowance after 4th CPC in 1986, the employees working in the Shipping & Transport departments as well as Staff Car Drivers are adversely affected and requested the Commission to increase the Overtime Allowance. Shri D.Ayyappan through Power Point presentation further briefly explained the demands of the employees working in the Agriculture Department, Shipping Department, Statistical & Economics Department, Information Technology Cadre, APWD, Health, Rural Development, Survey & Settlement, Social Welfare, Fisheries departments for upgradation of their pay with documentary proof and valid reasons.
The Chairman and members carefully listened hearing to the presentation made by the Association and assured that the demands raised by the Association through its memorandum submitted to the Commission during July 2014 and the power point presentation made today will be considered sympathetically.
