Port Blair, Dec 14: Ms. Tanvi Garg, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (SA) alongwith Assistant Commissioner (SA) and Assistant Commissioners visited Hut Bay on 12/12/2014 wherein inspections were conducted at the quarry site proposed to be awarded to ALHW and Panchayat Samiti after preparation of quarrying plan and its approval from Competent Authority. The Deputy Commissioner (SA) directed the revenue field functionaries to keep a vigil on the area to check illegal quarry operations.
The team also inspected the site of white moorum at 19 Km for which a quarrying plan is being prepared and after the approval of the Competent Authority the site will be put for public utility for extraction of white moorum for developmental activities been carried out by various implementing agencies.
Apart from this a revenue camp court under the campaign “Zilla Prashasan Aapke Dwar” was organized at Netaji Nagar Panchayat Samiti Community hall, Hut Bay. During the camp a large number of general public were present fervently to raise their demands before the Deputy Commissioner (SA) for addressing their issues expeditiously. All the issues raised by the residents were patiently heard and necessary directions were issued on the spot to respective departments for redressal in a time bound manner.
The Deputy Commissioner (SA) assured that the problems put forth by the villagers will be addressed or taken up with the respective Departments for earlier remedy.
The sincere effort of the District Administration for addressing the issues of the residents at their doorstep by conducting Revenue Camp Court under the campaign “Zilla Prashasan Aapke Dwar” shall be continued in other villages of the District on regular basis.
MP meets Secretary General of IOA, highlights local issues
Port Blair, Dec 14: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the Member of Parliament called on Mr. Rajeev Mehta, Secretary General, Indian Olympic Association at New Delhi on 12/12/2014 to discuss the various issue for betterment of the Sport activities of A & N Islands.
During discussion, Mr. Ray expressed that a good number of Sports aspirants in various games are available in Islands and they need proper guidance, training and infrastructure to make them capable to achieve the better results in various fields of sports events under district, State and National level.
During discussion, the Secretary General, Indian Olympic Association handed over a confirmation letter to Mr. Ray, congratulating him for his selection as President of A & N State Olympic Association in the General Meeting held on 29/11/2014. The Secretary General, Olympic Association has further assured him for full co-operation for betterment of Sports in Andaman.
