Port Blair, Nov 24: A free rural dental camp was organised by Rotary club of Port Blair, District 3291, on 23/11/14 at Panchayat hall, Bakuntala, wherein Dr. Dinesh, Dental Surgeon examined the patients. The main objective of the camp is to provide basic dental health education to the children & adults and motivate dental hygiene maintenance. The camp evoked good response from the people of the surrounding areas a total 19 cases were attended to using Disposable Dental Diagnostic kits. Overall 5 tooth extractions were done at the camp and free medicines, tooth brushes, were distributed to all the patients. Others had gingival problems & dental caries. Children were curious and had a fear barrier but had a good response on personal interaction. Vision of rotary was to educate people about the importance of oral health and hygiene especially children and to reach out to the under privileged sections of the society and provide free dental treatment. Patients were given demonstrations so to educate the importance of oral hygiene. Rtn. Dr.Dinesh, President, of Rotary Club Rtn. Rajesh Anand, Treasurer, Mrs Shrimati Bepari, Pradhan of Bakuntala village and Ex-Pradhan Shri Anil Bepari was also present to see all arrangements for the smooth functioning of the camp and lauded the initiative taken by rotary club in this rural area.
