Diglipur, Nov 12: It seems that the Disaster Preparedness has taken a backseat in Electricity Department.
Along Andaman Trunk Road one can see several decade old electric poles in highly dilapidated state. Andaman Sheekha has been writing about these poles since last many years but it seems nobody is willing to replace these electric poles with new ones until and unless these old poles kill dozens of people.
The best example of Electricity Department’s infrastructure maintenance could be seen in Diglipur Bazaar, where just one kilometer away from the Electricity Office (Near Radhika Store, on ATR), a few poles may collapse anytime.
The residents of nearby area allege that they have highlighted this problem to the official concerned several times in past but no visible action has been taken yet in this regard by Electricity Department.
Insiders told Andaman Sheekha that there is no shortage of electric poles in Diglipur the only thing which lacks is zeal to work.
