Port Blair, Oct 10: The Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Islands today inaugurated the South Andaman Zonal Agriculture Office at Goalghar at 10 am.
Speaking on the occasion the CS appealed to all staffs to preserve the building and to keep the building neat and clean. Further he said that the building will be very helpful for the Farmers in demonstration purposes and asked the Agriculture department to join hands with the Industries department and conduct training programs for the farmers in floriculture. He also appreciated the Andaman Public works department for completing the building in a time bound manner.
In his welcome speech the Secretary Agriculture Mr J. B. Singh said that as the works of Agriculture department is increasing day by day, this building was very important for the people as well as farmers of the islands and the work culture will also become better after adding this building. An amount of Rs 1.41 crores was the total investment for the construction of the building, he said.
Vote of thanks was proposed by the Director of Agriculture, Dr G. S. Pandey, where he mentioned that earlier the building was in a wooden structure. He also said that the department is trying its best for taking up Bee Keeping, Floriculture and Mushroom cultivation in the islands.
