Port Blair, Oct. 10: On the occasion of Command Raising Day, Rapid Assault/ Amphibious Operations Demonstration will be conducted at Corbyn’s beach on Oct. 12, 2014. The spectacular demonstration will be showcasing beaching of ships, troop insertion from sea and air. Various Indian Navy ships/ aircraft, Indian Air force helicopters and Army BMPs will be participating in the demonstration.
The Commander in Chief Andaman Nicobar Command, Vice Admiral PK Chaterjee will be the chief guest. The event will be held at 8.30 am on Oct. 12.
The demonstration will commence with operations by Marine Commandos followed by troop insertion by Mi-17 V5 helicopters. Indian Navy ships will be beaching to insert army troops and amphibious vehicles on the beach.
For the first time such an event is being conducted purely for viewing by school and college students, by HQ ANC. All interested should reach the venue latest by 7.30 am to witness the demonstration, a communication received here said.
