Port Blair, Sept. 29: The day of Gandhi Jayanti on Oct. 2, 2014 will be observed as Dry Day. It will also be observed as an International Day of Non-Violence. People have been requested to desist from slaughtering of animals, killing of birds and catching of fishes on this day as a mark of tribute to the great soul. They are also requested to keep themselves away from consuming any kind of spirituous and fermented liquor/ wines or display the same for sale on this auspicious day, a communication from the Dy. Commissioner (SA) said here today.
