Diglipur, Aug 19: ‘Menaka’ a cow elephant, which belongs to Forest Department, reached near Kalighat Forest Outpost yesterday by breaking her shackles.
The Elephant reportedly damaged some portion of an earthen house. A child was reportedly sleeping in a house next to the damaged house luckily he survived.
It is believed that there were banana tree behind the house, which had attracted the elephant.
When the matter was reported PS Kalighat Staffs reached the spot along with the Mahout of the elephant and controlled the elephant. No further damage was reported.
