Port Blair, Aug 13: The First Lady of the Islands Smti Suniti Singh today visited Govt Model Senior Secondary School Port Blair and had interactions with the Students and the teachers. In the Interaction session organized at the School auditorium, she called upon the students to opt Defense forces as career. Advocating for the need of conducting counseling sessions for the students in this regard, she said that our forces provide ample opportunity to the jawans and officers to show their talents.
She said that the competition is increasing day by day and the students of the Islands have to work harder to compete with their counterparts at main land. She appreciated the band troop of the School saying that this troop could match any of bands of the best convent schools of main land. While talking to the teachers she insisted to make learning joyful in the classes, especially when dealing with small children of the primary classes. The environment should be friendly and the learning should be activity based in the classes, so that the children should not feel the burden.
During the one hour long session students presented melodious prayer songs, patriotic songs and dances, which were applauded much by the visiting dignitary.
Earlier, Welcoming the Chief Guest the Principal of the School Dr. Dheeraj Kumar said that the School has been able to maintain the highest standards in the Islands, year after year. He informed that the School has been felicitated by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor this year, having been adjudged the best Administration School. The Vice Principal Smti Hepsi Shanta proposed the vote of thanks. The Secretary cum Director Mr. Devender Singh, Deputy Director(Education) Mr. Dharmendra Kumar, Deputy Director(Planning) Mr. Shashi Kumar and the Deputy Director(Personnel) Mr. H. Nathaniel were also present on the occasion.
