Port Blair, Aug 08: The Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, Mr P Jawahar today told Andaman Sheekha team that the raids against illegal quarry operation will continue in future too. Today a group of people organized agitation infront of DC office demanding early release of seized excavators and trucks.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the Deputy Commissioner today said that there were specific complaints about illegal quarry operations in South Andaman area from the side of Public minded people, General Public, NGOs and legal quarry operators following which the DC office launched the crackdown operations, for which various teams were also formed.
He said that during crackdown and surprise inspections three excavators and eight trucks were seized by the DC office.
“This crackdown will continue and infact the Hon’ble MP highlighted this menace before the administration as a result of which we took cognizance of the offence,” Mr. Jawahar added.
