Port Blair, Aug 08: A peaceful protest today resulted in minor scuffle between police and agitators infront of South Andaman Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Today evening a team of BJP workers with some quarry and crusher operators reached the DC office campus and sat infront of the DC office demanding early release of excavators, which were seized by revenue staffs from illegal quarrying site in last one week. The agitating people also demanded action against the staffs, who had seized three Excavators and nearly eight Trucks. The agitation was led by Mr. Deepak Kumar Jha, General Secretary of A & N State BJP unit.
But sadly the agitation took a wrong turn, when one of the agitating members allegedly used an abusive word against the police team, which resulted in minor scuffle between Police Jawans and Party works. However the police team, present at the site, under the supervision of Dy.S.P Mohd. Aslam, handled the situation well.
Now the agitating BJP members also added the demand of putting a few officers present at the site, under suspension for manhandling the agitating people and allegedly using abusive words.
Till the last report poured in the agitators were continuing their protest at the site and were waiting for the Member of Parliament to visit the site.
