Mayabunder, July 22: A special Gram Sabha meeting of Gram Panchayat Pahalgaon, Mayabunder, North Andaman was called today at 1000 hrs to discuss about the BAR culture of North and Middle Andaman.
The meeting was attended by more than 220 villagers out of which nearly 115 were female, who raised voice against BARs in their area.
The ladies present during the meeting raised questions over giving permission to Kamala Bar at Pahalgaon Village. During the meeting ladies alleged that due to opening of bar in their area children are getting spoiled and future of the village is in great danger.
Later ladies brought out a rally from Gram Panchayat Building to Kamala Bar and demanded closure of the BAR.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the Pradhan of Pahalgaon alleged that before giving permission to the said bar no NOC was taken from the Pradhan of Pahalgaon and hence the Bar is operating illegally.
The PRI members present during the rally requested the Lt. Governor to order an inquiry to find out how Bar Licenses are issued without the NOC of panchayats.
Public were angry because few days back the son of the Kamala Bar owner had allegedly beaten a lady of the area, like animal for some reasons and till today no action has been taken against the accused.
