Port Blair, July 06: A minor fire was reported from G B Pant Hospital’s Blood Bank yesterday at around 10.40 AM. According to reports the fire was caused by short circuit. But before the fire could take dangerous shape, in a Heroic manner, Mr Bala Krishnan Boby, P.O. of INS Investigator, who had come to for his treatment to G B Pant, extinguished fire in no time, much before Fire Brigade Vehicle could reach the spot.
According to report Mr. Bobby, who is well trained in Indian Navy, threw his file and ran for fire extinguishers in the hospital. Eye witnesses say that he sprayed six CO2 fire extinguishers alone and extinguished the fire. This is sad that neither any officials thanked him nor Fire Services recognized his selfless service.
However, in today’s Daily Telegrams the CFO claimed that Fire Services team had doused the fire.
It is obvious the soldier (Mr Bala Krishnan Boby, P.O. of INS Investigator) responded to his inner conscience and doused the flames before it spread out. It is unfortunate that those who arrived later in the scene failed to appreciate the contribution made by the brave soldier; nevertheless, salutes to Mr Bala Krishnan Boby for his brave act.
