World No Tobacco Day to be celebrated on 31st May

Port Blair, May 28: Like every year, the Directorate of Health Services will observe “World No Tobacco Day” on 31^st May 2014 in Andaman & Nicobar Islands along with the rest of the country. The theme of this year is “Raise Taxes on Tobacco”. Increasing the price of tobacco through higher taxes is the single most effective way to decrease consumption and encourage tobacco users to quit. To mark the Day various programmes have been chalked out by Health Department all over A & N Islands involving PRI’s, Para Medical Personnel, Anganwadi workers, Youth Clubs, ASHAs and NGOs to create awareness about ill effects of consumption of Tobacco products. The Main function will be organized on 31^st May 2014 at 10.00 A.M. at IRBn Auditorium Port Mout, South Andaman
