Port Blair, May 26: The ANTCC has noticed that in the Directorate of Shipping Services, for over past 10 years or so no posts under the direct recruitment category has been filled and in lieu persons on contract basis are appointed against these vacancies in various section of the Directorate viz. Dockyard, afloat, Accounts, Planning, Crew cell, Canteen, EDP cell etc. The strength of such contract employees as per order No 930 to 935 dated 28/02/2014, order no. 958 & 959 dated 4.3.2014 and order No. 989 dated 5.3.2014 of Directorate of Shipping Service is 153 and their engagement is up to 31.5.2014. Now the Directorate before the expiry of the tenure of the engagement of the above mentioned 153 contract employees has extended the contract appointment 129 contract employees for a further period of 2 months i.e. from 01.06.2014 to 31.7.2014 vides order no.2152 to 2157 dated 15th May 2014 leaving aside 24 persons.
Taking concern of the left out contract employees of the DSS the PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma has brought the matter to the notice of the Chief Secretary and requested that the period of Contract of these 24 persons may also be extended as is done in the case of remaining 131 odd contract employees, as the Directorate of Shipping Service has not yet filled any posts against which these persons were appointed on Contract basis and performing the duties in various section of the Directorate
