Port Blair, April 7: South Andaman District Police have seized182 Bottles of IMFL arrested 12 bootleggers on Sunday (6th April) and Twelve Excise cases have been registered at various police Stations. In the view of the general Elections, several police teams of South Andaman are conducting raids in Port Blair and other areas. On Sunday in multiple raids at Phomgy Chaung, Phoenix Bay, fisheries Jetty, Pathergudda, Brookshabad, Tapu Basthi, Ferrergunj and Chouldari, 53 bottles of 750 ml IMFL, 46 bottles of 375 ml IMFL, 50 bottles of 180 ml IMFL were seized at P.S. Aberdeen; 15 bottles of 180 ml at P.S. Pahargaon; 02 bottles of 750 ml of IFML at P.S. Bambooflat and 06 bottles 750 ml seized at P.S. Ograbranj (all company sealed bottles).Besides 10 bottles of IMFL loose were also seized from the bootleggers.
Case has been registered against the bootleggers namely A.Veerapandi (34 Yrs) R/o.Phongy Chang, M.Anand (22yrs) R/o. Fisheries Jetty Municipal Complex, S.Selvam (50 yrs) R/o. Ferrargunj, S.Murugeshan (40 yrs) R/o.Pathergudda, Ashim Kr. Biswas (42 yrs) R/o. Bambooflat, Mohd. Seeraj (21yrs) R/o.Phoenix Bay, Biswajit Bera (31yrs) R/o. Chouldari, M.Seeyalam (38yrs) R/o. Brookshabad, Ramachandran (46yrs) R/o. Pathergudda, Smti.Vimala (32yrs) R/o. Tapu Basthi, Narshimlu (31yrs) R/o. Ferrargunj and Sukhlal halder (52yrs) R/o. Chouldari.
“We are keeping strict vigil to prevent distribution of liquor before general elections and any violation of model code of conduct to ensure free and fair elections ,” Mr. Chinmoy Biswal the Superintendent of Police of South Andaman told Andaman Sheekha today.
