Port Blair, Apr 07: The Election Commission of India vide its Order dated 2nd April, 2014 in file No. 3/4/ID/2014/SDR-Vol-I and instruction No. 3/4/ID/2014/SDR-Vol-I dated 2nd April, 2014 has directed that all electors who have been issued EPIC shall produce the EPIC for their identification at the Polling Station before casting their votes. Those electors who are not able to produce the EPIC shall produce one of the following alternative Photo Identity document for establishing their identity.
(1) Passport; (2) Driving License; (3) Service Identity Cards with photograph issued to employees by Central/ State Govt. PSUs/ Public Limited Companies; (4) Passbooks with photograph issued by Bank/ Post Office; (5) PAN Card; (6) Aadhar Card; (7) Smart Card issued by the RGI under NPR; (8) MNREGA Job Card; (9) Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour; (10) Pension document with photograph; and (11) Authenticated Photo Voter Slip issued by the election machinery.
In the case of EPIC, minor discrepancies in the entries therein should be ignored provided the identity of the elector can be established by the EPIC. If it is not possible to establish the identity of the elector on account of mismatch of photograph, etc. the elector shall have to produce one of the alternative photo documents mentioned above.
The overseas electors shall have to produce their original passport only for identification.
Authenticated Photo Voter Slips are being distributed to all electors. On the day of Poll one Officer (BLO) will be on duty outside each Polling Station, during Polling hours, with undistributed Photo Voter Slips, so that any elector who has not been issued Authenticated Photo Voter Slip, can collect their authenticated Photo Voter Slip in original outside the Polling Stations. The Officer with the undistributed photo voter slips will sit at a facilitation desk set up at a conspicuous place outside the Polling Station.
