Port Blair 12th Feb 2014: In a significant detection in crime against children, PS Pahargaon Police have traced out and arrested a man for kidnapping a minor girl from a road junction.
On 09/02/14 morning, a complaint was lodged at PS Pahargaon that a minor girl was kidnapped by one unknown motorcyclist from near Prothrapur Shiv Mandir when she had gone out to some relatives’ place.
The kidnapper had taken the girl on his motorcycle to Brichgunj and left her after half an hour at Prothrapur Junction and threatened her with dire consequences not to disclose the matter to anyone. Upon this, a case of kidnapping vide FIR No.14/14 U/s 363/354/323/506 IPC r.w.s. 8 of POCSO Act was immediately registered at PS Pahargaon and the Child Helpline called for assistance.
A special team of PS Pahargaon led by SHO, SI, Arif launched a massive man hunt with the help of informers to identity and apprehend the unknown offender. With continued search, he was apprehended on 10/02/14 and later identified by the victim. Accused D. Deva Danam, (32) yrs., R/o Brichgunj was arrested and produced before the Hon’ble Court from where he has been sent to judicial remand for 14 days.
Prompt action and sincere efforts by the police team with the help of local residents led to solving the case. Further investigation is in progress.
