Administration to adopt policy guidelines while notifying vacancies
Port Blair, February 12: In the light of the recent protests from different corners and on the directions of the Hon’ble Lt Governor, the Andaman and Nicobar Administration has decided to follow/adopt policy guidelines while notifying the vacancies for filling-up posts through direct recruitment and conducting the recruitment examinations in all the Departments under the A & N Administration.
Accordingly, the Departments will henceforth stop the procedure of notifying the vacancies online and such notifications will be issued through the local print media, in respect of all non-UPSC posts. The vacancy notice should contain all details relating to the vacancy and recruitment process viz (1) designation of the post, (2) No. of vacancies, (3) vacancies reserved for various categories, (4) pay band & Grade Pay attached to the post, (5) Educational/Technical qualifications and experience prescribed in the relevant RRs, (6) Cut-off date to determine the minimum/maximum age limit, (7) Applicability of age relaxation to various categories, (8) Scheme/method of recruitment process and the marks assigned for each stage of the recruitment process viz written examination, skill test, interview etc, (9) syllabus for the written examination, (10) documents to be enclosed with the application, (11) closing date and time for receipt of the application etc. The provisions contained in the notified Recruitment Rules for the respective posts shall be strictly adhered to and the Scheme/method being adopted in the recruitment process duly approved by the competent authority shall be published along with the Vacancy Notice.
Further, the Departments should assess the yearly vacancies before notifying the same for filling up. Timely action should be taken to notify the vacancies which are to be filled through UPSC and the status shall be monitored at regular intervals to avoid delay. The requests for relaxation on upper age limit shall be examined and dealt with in terms of DOP&T’s / A&N Admn’s guidelines issued from time to time. Wherever both written examination and interviews are prescribed in the relevant RRs/Scheme of the recruitment examination, the percentage for viva-voice shall not exceed 15% of the total marks prescribed for the recruitment process. All HoDs / Appointing Authorities should take immediate necessary action to fill-up all the existing vacancies expeditiously in the manner by following fair and transparent methods while conducting recruitment examination.
