Port Blair, Feb 12: The PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt Governor to take up the issue of establishing full fledged Frequency Modulation (FM) broadcasting services in All India Radio, Port Blair with the appropriate authorities at New Delhi which is a long pending demand of the general public of these islands.
In his letter to the Administrator, Kuldeep has stated that in a remote place like Andaman and Nicobar Islands which lacks of entertainment avenues, FM services are very much required since most of our islanders reside in remote villages who have radio sets and are used to listening programmes of AIR. Even many incoming tourists are also used to listening FM relay.
Kuldeep has also stated that our own AIR station is having all necessary equipments to start the services of FM of its own. If the facility is introduced in Port Blair, many unemployed youths of these islands may get employment in this hard days beside the services will also be useful to inform the general public about the daily problems like traffic jam or water logging and also any other hazardous situations etc of the islands as a safety measure of the islanders, Kuldeep has added in his letter.
