I am glad to learn that the 25th Road Safety Week is being observed by Andaman & Nicobar Police from 16th Jan, 2014 to 22nd Jan, 2014 to raise public awareness and consciousness on making our roads safer for users and ensuring pedestrian safety.
It is a matter of great concern that every year thousands of lives are lost on the roads and lakhs of people injured in road accidents in our country, which could be avoided by observing road discipline and giving a thought about the safety of oneself and that of others. With increasing urbanization and vehicular traffic, the need for making the roads safer for human lives cannot be overstated. It is heartening to know that the A&N Traffic Police is observing the Week with the message of Road Safety-When on the road, always say ‘Pehle Aap’ and organizing various activities to spread the message among youth, children and the general public.
I am sure the Road Safety Week 2014 will further improve the traffic scenario in our Islands and bring in road safety behaviour among the road users.
I wish the Road Safety Week all success.
