Port Blair, Jan 05 : Fuel Barge Pushpa, a state of the art fuel barge, was inducted into service by Air Marshal PK Roy, AVSM, VM, VSM, ADC, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command at a ceremony held at Naval Wharf on 03 Jan 14.
This fuel barge has been built by M/s Modest Infrastructure Limited, Bhavnagar at a cost of Rs. 19 crores. The barge will be used for supplying fuel to naval ships and craft. Fuel BargePushpa has joined the Fleet of Yardcraft of NSRY, Port Blair for rendering shore support to ships of ANC and other visiting ships of the Indian Navy. The craft will be operated by the Commander of Yard Division of NSRY.
The Commander-in-Chief congratulated the Commodore Superintendent, Naval Ship Repair Yard and his team on receiving a new craft and advised them to innovate measures to enhance the reach and the utility of the craft to outlying Islands. The state of the art features would significantly enhance the capabilities of the Command to fuel its ships at Port Blair and assist in quick operational turnaround of warships.
Air Marshal Roy complimented M/s Modest Infrastructure Ltd and Warship Overseeing Team, Bhavnagar for doing a fine shipbuilding work on the craft.
